Phuket is one of the region's most developed and best established property markets. Developers have been building estates and stand alone villas around the island for more than twenty years , which has attracted plenty of investors. The most popular areas for homes on Phuket include Bang Tao Beach, Surin, Cherng Talay and Layan, as well as the beaches in the south like Nai Harn and Kata. The busy tourist spots such as Patong, have been developed to their maximum potential and homes are therefore priced at a premium.
Despite some caution on the part of investors based on global financial uncertainties, home buyers continue to choose Phuket for its dependable infrastructure and added amenities. The island offers a wide range of property choices from condominiums, apartments through to houses and villas, and the secondary market is also expanding. Residential properties situated outside the much sought-after west coast bays are more affordable but certainly not the cheapest in Thailand. In general, prices and properties are at the upper end island-wide.
